Studio C Dance Company is a place that is so much more than the dance studio I attended growing up.  Yes, I learned to dance, but I also learned the value of hard work and discipline while having fun along the way.  I was taught how to approach projects creatively and to constantly push myself to think outside the box (cue dancing with a mustache at seven years old or blowing choreographed bubble gum bubbles onstage at 17). I learned how to carry myself as a young lady and to always have a confidence that starts within myself.  The lessons and guidance that I received there have had a lasting impact on me and have carried over into every aspect of my life.

These lessons began to pay off early. In high school, I was a member and officer of National Honor Society, Lion’s Club Student of the Month Recipient, and Class of 2017 Vice President.  I was an All-American Cheerleader, recipient of the “Most Overall Spirited Award”, and was honored to be a DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Recipient, Homecoming Queen, People’s Choice Scholarship Winner - Miss Polk County, and a Visiting Duchess for the Dogwood Festival.

As an Elementary Education Major at Sam Houston State University, the lessons I learned growing up at Studio C continued to influence me as a college student.  I was on the SHSU Dean’s List, a member of Kappa Delta Pi – the International Honor Society for Education, I served as an intern for First Student Ministries, and was awarded SHSU Student Worker of the Month.  While attending classes, I was a student assistant in Career Services and was later promoted from student assistant to Peer Career Advisor, the first student to hold that position.  After graduating, I will begin my career in Livingston ISD as a 4th grade teacher.

I’m forever grateful for Studio C, the life-long friendships I gained there, the memories that make me smile, and the experiences that helped shape me into who I am today – the pretty costumes were just a bonus!
